Resources - Solar Vehicles

We've listed some quality resources on the subject of solar vehicles from a few external websites that we have found to be interesting and informative. Please come back and visit us often and bookmark us if you would like. Once you've done, that, though, be sure to check out some of these exciting solar vehicle websites for information that is beyond the scope of our hybrid vehicle site.

Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) Program - is a classroom-based, hands-on educational program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. JSS student teams apply math, science, and creativity to construct model solar-powered cars and race them in interscholastic competitions hosted within their schools or within their states or regions. Hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Winston Solar Car Team - is one of the leading high school solar car education programs in the United States. Founded in 1990, the team has built and raced eight solar cars. The team participated in three Australian World Solar Challenges, and is the first U.S. High School to ever complete the race. The team has earned First Place Classic Division in both the 2002 and 2004 Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenges.

Solar Car Racing Competition Heats Up - article by National Geographic online magazine outlining solar car racing competitions. Includes information on the races and requirements for joining.

2005 North American Solar Challenge (NASC2005) - is a competition to design, build, and race solar-powered cars in a cross-country event. Teams compete in a 2500 mile rayce from Austin, Texas to Calgary, Alberta.
